Job Title

Trainee — Electronic Design Automation (Microelectronics)

Role Summary

The trainee will support the EDA team in development and verification of design kits for CMOS, RFCMOS and BiCMOS processes. This role is part of the Design and Technology Enablement organization in Sofia and is intended to introduce students to modern EDA tools and CAD engineering work.

Experience Level

Entry-level / student trainee. Suitable for active university students; no specific years of professional experience required.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities during the trainee program include:

  • Assist in development and verification of Design Kits for semiconductor processes.
  • Learn and operate EDA and CAD tools to support design and manufacturing flows.
  • Develop and maintain scripts to automate EDA tasks (Perl, Python, TCL, etc.).
  • Support circuit simulations and data analysis using simulators or mathematical software.
  • Collaborate with engineers on documentation, test runs and verification tasks.
  • Work up to 20 hours per week aligned with university schedule.

Requirements

Technical must-haves and preferred skills.

  • Good understanding of electronic devices and semiconductor theory.
  • Programming experience in one or more languages (C/C++, Perl, Python, TCL).
  • Preferred: familiarity with CAD systems (Cadence IC, OrCAD, Protel or similar).
  • Preferred: experience with circuit simulators (PSpice) or mathematical tools (Matlab, Mathematica).
  • Ability to learn EDA flows and work effectively in a team under supervision.

Education Requirements

Active student in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation or an equivalent field of study (student status required). "Or equivalent" language is present in the posting.
