Job Title

Central Hardware Systems – EE Automation Engineer, Senior

Role Summary

Develop and maintain automation, scripting, and tool methodology for RF/SI/PI simulation and extraction flows used for PCB and IC package analysis. The role sits on the CHSA (Central Hardware Systems Automation) electrical team and provides consulting, troubleshooting, and tooling support to signal and power integrity engineers across the organization.

Experience Level

Senior. The posting indicates minimum practical experience expectations (examples below) but the title denotes a senior-level role.

Source guidance includes examples such as 2+ years of SI/EM toolset and scripting experience (for candidates with a bachelor's); advanced degrees and equivalent experience are also referenced in the posting.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on automation, tool support, and engineering consultation for SI/PI workflows.

  • Design, develop, and maintain automation and scripts for RF/SI/PI EDA tool flows (simulation and extraction).
  • Provide methodology and troubleshooting support for PCB and package signal and power integrity analyses.
  • Support and administer EDA applications on Windows and Linux platforms, including installation and maintenance.
  • Develop knowledge-base articles, documentation, and presentation materials for simulation flows and best practices.
  • Engage with PCB SI engineers, package modeling engineers, and IC designers to define optimal modeling and extraction techniques.
  • Deliver project status, progress updates, and technical recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items noted separately.

  • Experience supporting RF/SI/PI EDA tools and workflows; familiarity with extraction and simulation processes.
  • Strong scripting and development skills: Python, Perl, VBScript, and experience with C/C++ for tooling or debugging tasks.
  • Hands-on experience with commercial EDA packages: examples include Cadence Sigrity, Siemens-Mentor, Ansys, Keysight, CST, Polar (tool familiarity expected).
  • Experience with circuit and full-wave EM solvers and measurement automation (VNA/TDR scripting) is expected.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and ability to document technical solutions clearly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication, and ability to coordinate/prioritize project tasks across global teams.
  • Leadership skills to direct and prioritize tasks and to communicate milestones to team members.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or Chemical, Mechanical engineering, or related field) OR equivalent practical experience. Alternatives listed: Master's degree (preferred in electromagnetic theory, transmission lines, signal/power integrity) with reduced experience requirements, or PhD in a related field. The posting explicitly allows equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
