Tools Development Engineer

Role Summary

Join the GPU SWQA team to design and build tools and automated tests that validate NVIDIA device drivers and SDKs on Windows platforms. The role focuses on applying AI-driven automation and developing utilities that accelerate test and development workflows in the GPU domain.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typically requires 3+ years of programming and test automation experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing test automation, tools, and diagnostics; driving automation initiatives; and reporting quality status.

  • Design and implement automated tests that use AI techniques for device drivers and SDKs on Windows.
  • Build tools, utilities, and frameworks in Python, C# or equivalent to automate and optimize GPU testing workflows.
  • Develop, run, and analyze automated and manual tests; measure and improve code coverage for software under test.
  • Isolate, debug, and drive root-cause analysis for defects; contribute to fixes and follow through to closure.
  • Generate compatibility tests across product variants and validate software across a defined test matrix.
  • Provide peer code reviews with emphasis on performance, scalability, and correctness.
  • Report test coverage and Go/No-Go status; escalate critical issues and coordinate resolution.
  • Estimate and prioritize tasks to produce realistic delivery schedules and actionable progress reports to leadership.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional attributes.

  • 3+ years programming experience in Python, C# or equivalent with solid object-oriented programming skills.
  • Hands-on Python scripting experience (data structures, regular expressions, package management).
  • Experience with databases and storage technologies such as SQL, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch.
  • Working experience on Windows OS and strong familiarity with GPU, CPU, and SoC architectures (x86/ARM).
  • Experience applying AI tools to automate test cases and end-to-end QA workflows.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized, proactive, quick to learn, and able to work effectively with engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of PC I/O architecture and common bus interfaces (PCIe, USB, SATA).
  • Experience with device drivers, SDKs, compatibility testing, and CI/CD test pipelines.
  • Experience measuring and driving improvements in code coverage and test automation frameworks.

Education Requirements

B.S. / B.Tech / M.S. in Computer Science or Electronics & Telecommunication, or equivalent practical experience. The posting also states "strong academics" as preferred; equivalent industry experience is acceptable.
