Tools and Flows Applications Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the Chip Methodology and Automation (CMA) Applications Engineering team supporting internal design and verification flows used across Arm Solutions Engineering projects. The role deploys, documents, trains, and supports engineering teams to ensure flows operate as intended and deliverable solutions meet project needs.

Work spans front-end design and verification flows and interfaces with methodology developers, project engineers, and EDA vendors to resolve tool issues and improve team efficiency.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include deployment, support, and continuous improvement of engineering flows and methodologies.

  • Deploy, configure, and support front-end design and verification flows for SoC projects.
  • Provide training and ramp support to project teams to accelerate adoption of flows and tools.
  • Validate that verification flows (simulation, formal, power-aware simulation, gate-level simulation) and design tooling (lint, CDC/RDC, SDC) meet project requirements.
  • Work with methodology developers to influence flow and tool direction based on usage patterns and project feedback.
  • Collaborate with EDA vendors to diagnose and resolve tool issues and ensure fixes reach affected teams.
  • Analyze team workflows to identify opportunities for automation or process improvements that increase engineering efficiency.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and abilities for immediate contribution.

  • Knowledge of design and verification flows used in SoC development.
  • Proficient in a scripting language such as Python.
  • Experience with version control and code review flows such as Git and Gerrit.
  • Familiarity with databases and their application to engineering flows.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with geographically distributed teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience on global IP and SoC development projects.
