Role Summary

Qualcomm Semiconductor Limited is hiring a Thermal Engineer to perform thermal analysis, CFD modeling, laboratory testing, and thermal-mechanical project work for IoT, wearable, and mobile platforms within Packaging/Engineering. The role supports product development from concept through production and evaluates cooling technologies and materials.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include modeling, testing, and coordinating thermal projects.

  • Support thermal and mechanical projects from concept through production.
  • Perform thermal modeling and simulations using CFD tools for product-level solutions and present results.
  • Design, set up, execute, and analyze thermal tests.
  • Research and evaluate novel cooling technologies, materials, and thermal solutions.
  • Manage technical projects across the organization.

  • Proficiency with thermal modeling/simulation tools such as ANSYS Icepak or FloTHERM.
  • Hands-on experience designing and executing thermal tests in a laboratory environment; familiar with thermal measurement tools (IR camera, thermocouple, flow meter) and data acquisition systems.
  • Programming experience with Python and C/C++; scripting and data analysis skills.
  • Experience with 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks or Creo) and with disassembling/assembling electronic devices to support modeling and testing.
  • Strong knowledge of heat transfer: conduction, radiation, natural and forced convection; experience designing and sizing heat sinks.
  • Ability to utilize AI tools to enhance simulations and testing workflows (desirable).
  • Excellent communication skills.

Education Requirements

Required: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME). Preferred: Master of Science (MSME) or PhD in Mechanical Engineering. The posting also lists a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field as acceptable.
