Testsite Engineer Intern — Jan–Jun 2027

Role Summary

Internship to support Hotwell design analysis, testsite layout development, and EDA automation for generation and reuse of test structures. Work within the testsite/design team to improve layout efficiency and maintain test-chip assets.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship. Suitable for students; requires full-time availability for the internship period (see Education Requirements).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Analyze Hotwell designs, test structures, and SLM macros to evaluate design characteristics and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support layout design and development of test structures and testsite components.
  • Develop and update EDA automation code to generate test structures, leveraging ML/AI where applicable.
  • Consolidate and maintain existing codebase and test-chip database.
  • Promote design reusability to improve layout development efficiency.
  • Perform work in compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements.

Requirements

Essential requirements and candidate expectations:

  • Good academic standing.
  • Able to work full-time (at least 40 hours per week) and available for a 16–24 week credit-bearing internship commencing January 2027.
  • Ability and willingness to develop or update EDA automation code and support layout-related tasks.
  • Effective communication, ability to work under mentorship, and teamwork skills.
  • Preferred: prior related internship or co-op experience, demonstrated leadership in projects or competitions, project management skills, and strong interest in using AI tools to improve productivity and workflows.

Education Requirements

Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field through an accredited program during the internship period. Must be eligible for a credit-bearing internship and in good academic standing.
