Failure Analysis Engineer - Tucson

Role Summary

Perform die-level failure analysis and electrical fault isolation to determine root cause of IC failures. Work with design, product engineering, CQE, wafer fab, and assembly/test teams to characterize, verify, and document failure mechanisms and corrective actions.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early Career β€” requires a minimum of 2 years of semiconductor failure analysis experience.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical failure analysis and supporting engineering activities related to characterization, test, and assembly technologies.

  • Perform circuit analysis and bench-level electrical verification/fault isolation on integrated circuits.
  • Deprocess die, isolate failure sites, and identify failure mechanisms.
  • Use schematics, layouts, and written/verbal descriptions to plan and execute tests and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and become proficient with a variety of failure analysis techniques and lab equipment.
  • Prepare detailed failure analysis reports documenting findings and root-cause conclusions.
  • Manage failure analysis workflow and collaborate with cross-functional teams to address issues.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in semiconductor failure analysis (must-have).
  • Hands-on experience with bench-level electrical testing, fault isolation, and circuit-level analysis (must-have).
  • Experience with die deprocessing and identifying defect locations using FA tools and techniques (must-have).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills; good judgment for isolating failures (must-have).
  • Ability to write clear, detailed technical failure analysis reports (must-have).
  • Preferred: strong verbal and written communication, time management, ability to work in teams, initiative, and ownership for implementing quality improvements (nice-to-have).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is required.
