Testsite Engineer Intern (Jan–Jun 2027)

Role Summary

Intern will support Hotwell design analysis, testsite layout development, and EDA automation to increase design efficiency and reuse of test structures. The role sits within the testsite/layout engineering function at GLOBALFOUNDRIES Singapore (Woodlands).

Experience Level

Entry-level internship for current students. Must be available for a 16–24 week, credit-bearing internship starting January 2027 and able to work at least 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

Primary duties focus on Hotwell/test structure analysis, layout support, and automation development.

  • Analyze Hotwell designs, test structures, and SLM macros to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Support layout design and development of test structures and testsite components.
  • Develop and update EDA automation code for test-structure generation, including ML/AI-assisted tools.
  • Consolidate and maintain existing codebase and test-chip database.
  • Promote and implement design reusability practices to improve layout development efficiency.
  • Follow Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements in all activities.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications and logistical requirements.

  • Currently enrolled and in good academic standing (see Education Requirements for degree fields).
  • Available for a 16–24 week internship commencing January 2027; able to work at least 40 hours per week.
  • Basic familiarity with layout concepts, test structures, or EDA workflows.
  • Ability to work safely and follow site EHS procedures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience.
  • Leadership experience in projects, competitions, or teams.
  • Project-management skills and ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Interest in applying AI tools to improve productivity and workflows.

Education Requirements

Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field from an accredited program; must be eligible for a credit-bearing internship during the stated period.
