Test Engineer – Silicon Photonics
Role Summary
Develop automated production test systems for next-generation silicon photonics products used in data center interconnect. Deliver hardware and software for compliance testing, defect detection, product characterization, and production yield improvement in collaboration with product and manufacturing test engineering teams.
Annual base salary range: USD 109,700 to USD 175,500.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typical experience expectation: Bachelor's degree holders with 8+ years relevant industry experience, or Master's degree holders with 6+ years relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test systems and supporting product qualification and manufacturing yield activities.
- Co-develop automated product testing systems with product developers and manufacturing test engineers.
- Design and optimize hardware configurations for compliance testing and defect detection.
- Implement test scripts, data-acquisition modules, and efficient GUI interfaces.
- Support product characterization, design validation, and production yield improvement.
- Integrate and extend existing test platforms and add new capabilities using structured development practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills; preferred skills listed separately.
- Strong background in optical device testing.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and C#, including multithreaded software and GUI development.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and technical troubleshooting skills.
Preferred:
- Firmware or microcoding experience.
- Motion control and machine-vision system experience.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle), statistical analysis (JMP), and process-control techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science with 8+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Master's degree in engineering or computer science with 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
