Job Title

Test Engineer - Photonic

Role Summary

Responsible for development and execution of test programs for silicon photonics devices. Works with international design teams to implement testable silicon design features, develop test concepts, and deliver test hardware and automation.

The role includes device characterization, data analysis, vendor collaboration, and driving yield improvement and test-time reduction for photonic silicon products.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum of 2 years' experience in the semiconductor photonic / photonic industry is expected.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include test program development, device validation, and cross-team coordination.

  • Develop and maintain silicon photonics and semiconductor test programs and test code.
  • Collaborate with design teams to implement silicon design features that enable effective testing.
  • Perform device characterization and analyze measurement data to provide actionable feedback to designers.
  • Design and lead development of test concepts and test hardware; manage internal and external vendors for implementation.
  • Optimize for yield improvement and reduction of test time while maintaining test quality and efficiency.
  • Automate test flows and measurement analysis to improve throughput and repeatability.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; listed concisely.

  • Proven experience in electrical engineering and programming for test and validation.
  • Practical experience in the semiconductor photonic / photonic industry (see Experience Level).
  • Proficiency in Python and VBA for test automation and data analysis.
  • Experience working with vendors and leading cross-organizational activities.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with measurement equipment and test lab practices.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with probability and statistics tools (for example, JMP).
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving approach and ownership of cross-functional projects.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
