Job Title

Test Engineer – DDR ATE Test Development & Characterization (Engineer to Senior Engineer)

Role Summary

Responsible for characterization and development of cost-effective manufacturing test solutions for DDR memory subsystems in advanced SoC products. Work includes creating characterization and test plans, developing ATE tests/programs, driving first-silicon debug, failure analysis, and yield/test-time optimization.

Collaborate with IC design, system engineering, and hardware applications teams across time zones to qualify designs fabricated at external foundries.

Experience Level

Hiring at Engineer to Senior Engineer levels. No explicit years-of-experience requirement provided; role suits mid-level to senior engineers depending on scope.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop characterization and manufacturing test plans for DDR memory subsystems (controller, PHY, IO, DRAM).
  • Define DFT and test-hardware requirements for ATE execution.
  • Develop and debug ATE tests, routines, and programs.
  • Drive first-silicon bring-up and debug to qualify fabricated designs.
  • Analyze parametric performance data and statistical trends.
  • Lead failure analysis and drive issues to resolution.
  • Analyze volume manufacturing yields and implement test-time reduction strategies.
  • Document results and communicate findings to cross-functional teams.

Requirements

Essential technical and professional skills:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering fundamentals, and digital, analog, mixed-signal, and VLSI concepts.
  • Experience with Windows and Unix/Linux environments.
  • Programming/scripting experience (C/C++, Java, Perl or similar) and test automation development/debugging.
  • Familiarity with DRAM and DDR controller/PHY/IO ATE testing is a plus.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and techniques for test/characterization data.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; good organization and documentation practices.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to work in a fast-paced, time-critical environment.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree required in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering preferred. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
