Job Title

Test Engineer

Role Summary

Member of the HAV Operations team responsible for board- and chassis-level test and validation of Siemens emulation and prototyping hardware. Work with hardware, firmware and factory test teams to develop and deploy test methodologies across NPI and production phases.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 5+ years of relevant experience in PCBA production testing and system integration testing.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include developing test strategies, implementing automation, and supporting production test infrastructure.

  • Develop assembly and test methodologies/plans for hardware through NPI and production.
  • Define functional test coverage, pass/fail criteria and system-level test requirements in design reviews.
  • Develop test specifications to verify functional, performance and reliability requirements.
  • Implement and maintain test automation and operator interfaces.
  • Debug PCBA and subsystems (fiber optics, high-speed interconnects, PCIe, power electronics).
  • Perform failure analysis and lab troubleshooting; develop test fixtures and DOE for custom hardware.
  • Collect, report and quantify test and yield data for production monitoring.
  • Maintain factory test systems and network infrastructure across manufacturing sites.
  • Lead projects to closure and support overseas factory requirements (~10% travel).
  • Handle physical test hardware as needed (able to lift/move ~25 lbs).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience to perform the role; preferred items are listed under "Nice-to-have".

  • Must-have: 5+ years experience in PCBA production testing and system integration testing.
  • Must-have: Test automation development using Python or shell; ability to code for bug fixes and develop test wrappers.
  • Must-have: Experience with Linux systems, building root images, and data-center/networking environments.
  • Must-have: Understanding of PCIe, Ethernet and TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with lab equipment: power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, DMMs, logic analyzers.
  • Must-have: Experience in failure analysis, troubleshooting in a lab, and developing test fixtures / DOEs.
  • Must-have: Ability to maintain factory test and network infrastructure for high-volume production.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Perl or bash scripting and automation frameworks; experience with manufacturing for data center products.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with fiber optics, high-speed interconnects and power electronics in production environments.

Education Requirements

Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field β€” or equivalent practical experience.
