Test Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work on-site at Jabil's JDAS Aerospace & Defense facility in St. Petersburg, FL to develop, validate, deploy, and support manufacturing test solutions for electronic, mechanical, optical, and software systems. The role supports test solution quotes, tester validation, crisis support, and continuous improvement of test processes and tools.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Typical guidance: 3+ years of experience in a test development environment.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development and delivery of low- to medium-complexity test solutions and associated quoting and documentation.

• Design, assemble, debug, validate, deploy, and support electrical, mechanical, optical, and software test hardware and fixtures.
• Develop test specifications, tester validation criteria, BOMs, and documentation packages to meet price and schedule commitments.
• Create and complete test solution quotes, including cost, schedule, hardware/software descriptions, and customer deliverables.
• Implement test processes such as ICT/MDA, boundary-scan (JTAG), board-level functional test, ESS/HASS, and system test.
• Use test software and compilers (e.g., LabView, LabWindows/CVI, TestStand, C#, C, Visual C++) to develop and integrate test sequences.
• Perform design reviews, project tracking, and maintain deliverables and milestones.
• Provide emergency/test-crisis support and contribute to continuous improvement of test technologies and procedures.
• Represent Test Development to internal teams, customers, and industry peer groups as required.

Requirements

Must-have skills and constraints, plus a short list of preferred skills.

• Must-have: 3+ years of practical experience in a manufacturing/test development environment.
• Must-have: Hands-on experience with manufacturing test strategies and at least one area of test development (structural/functional test, DFT, ICT/MDA, boundary-scan, system test).
• Must-have: Ability to produce test specifications, documentation packages, and tester validation artifacts; experience with project tracking and design reviews.
• Must-have: Proficiency with test software or scripting (examples: LabView, TestStand, C#, ANSI C) or equivalent practical experience.
• Must-have: U.S. citizenship required.
• Nice-to-have: Experience with Altium and/or AutoCAD.
• Nice-to-have: Familiarity with PXI/LXI, GPIB/USB/RS-232 controlled equipment, Agilent/Keysight ICT platforms, and custom fixture design.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or a related technology field is required; an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training is acceptable.
