Tegra System Software Engineer

Role Summary

The Tegra System Software Engineer will design and implement kernel drivers and embedded system software for Tegra SoCs, working across pre-silicon models and silicon platforms. The role partners closely with hardware, silicon, and bring-up teams to enable core OS software on new platforms.

Work focuses on low-level system software, early modeling/simulation, platform bring-up, and influencing hardware/system architecture through design specifications.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 5+ years of relevant software development experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include development, verification, and platform bring-up for Tegra SoCs.

  • Design, develop, verify, and maintain kernel drivers and embedded system features for next-generation SoC architectures.
  • Participate in early modeling and simulation to validate system behavior before silicon availability.
  • Collaborate with hardware, silicon, and pre-silicon teams for platform bring-up and prototype systems.
  • Enable core OS software on new platforms and support system-level debugging and validation.
  • Create architecture and design specifications that influence hardware and system software decisions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience. Nice-to-have items follow separately.

  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience (systems/embedded focus).
  • Proven leadership and ownership on prior projects.
  • Strong C programming and low-level driver development experience; proven system-level debugging skills.
  • Experience with ARM processor architecture and related toolchains.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture fundamentals: caches, buses, memory controllers, DMA, etc.

Nice-to-have:

  • Chip or board bring-up experience and platform bring-up techniques.
  • Experience developing high-quality embedded code and unit testing for low-level software.
  • Experience with JTAG and other hardware debugging tools.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field - or equivalent practical experience.

Base salary ranges (by level): Level 3: 152,000 USD - 241,500 USD; Level 4: 184,000 USD - 287,500 USD.
