Technology Development β Senior/Staff/Principal Process Development Engineer
Role Summary
Member of Micron's DRAM Technology Development Process Development Team in Hiroshima working on process and equipment solutions for DRAM, HBM and advanced CMOS technologies. The role focuses on exploring, developing, and optimizing unit process technologies and collaborating with process integration, device, design engineers, and equipment/material suppliers to enable cost-competitive next-generation memory technologies.
Experience Level
Senior level. The posting specifies a minimum of 3 years of semiconductor industry experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for process development, integration, and technical leadership to meet device, yield, reliability, and cost targets.
- Develop and optimize process recipes for development and manufacturing environments.
- Define process technology roadmaps and supplier strategies to achieve technology and cost goals.
- Analyze structural, materials, and electrical characterization data to guide development.
- Collaborate with device, integration, design teams, and external partners to solve complex technical challenges.
- Drive innovations to improve device performance, yield, reliability, and cost competitiveness.
- Promote AI-enabled methods to improve development efficiency and capability.
- Provide technical recommendations to senior leadership and contribute to strategic direction.
- Mentor and develop engineers to build organizational capability.
- Maintain high integrity, ownership, and respectful teamwork in all activities.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for effective performance in this role.
- Minimum 3 years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Advanced knowledge of semiconductor process development, device physics, and CMOS technology.
- Proficiency in data analysis and familiarity with materials characterization and surface analysis techniques.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and external equipment/material suppliers.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Preferred: experience in DRAM, HBM, or advanced semiconductor product development; process development or integration experience in logic, memory, or foundry technologies; experience in R&D and/or high-volume manufacturing environments; strong English communication skills.
- Preferred hands-on familiarity with process areas such as deposition (CVD, ALD, PVD), epitaxy, gate stacks/dielectrics, advanced patterning/dry etch, wet cleaning/surface treatment, ion implantation/thermal processing, metallization/interconnect, CMP, stress engineering, and advanced materials integration.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or Ph.D., or equivalent industry experience, in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Semiconductor Device Technology, or a related technical field.
