Job Title

Technical Writer (Intermediate)

Role Summary

Join Qualcomm's Interconnect Technology Center (QITC) Technical Writing Team to author and maintain English-language end-user documentation for Network-on-Chip (NoC) technologies. The role combines hands-on technical writing with ownership of terminology, templates, editorial standards, and content workflows, including work on LLM-enabled documentation strategies.

Experience Level

Mid-level; typically 2–5 years of technical writing or equivalent experience in microelectronics or related high-technology fields.

Responsibilities

Produce, maintain, and improve technical documentation and the documentation ecosystem for advanced hardware and system architectures.

  • Author clear, accurate technical content (specifications, user guides, reference material) for hardware and software audiences.
  • Define and enforce terminology, naming conventions, style guidelines, and editorial templates.
  • Contribute to content- and information-management workflows and single-source, database-driven publishing processes.
  • Analyze and synthesize technical information from specifications, design documents, code, presentations, and issue-tracking systems.
  • Work with engineering SMEs to validate technical content and gather requirements, often in French.
  • Support documentation automation, scripting, and tooling; help define LLM-enabled documentation consumption and structuring.
  • Produce materials for internal engineer audiences and manage regular publication cycles within an object-oriented authoring environment.

Requirements

Key technical and professional skills required to perform the role. Equivalent professional experience may be accepted in lieu of specific items below.

  • Proven technical writing experience (2+ years typical) producing software and/or hardware documentation or equivalent demonstrable experience.
  • Excellent written English; very high spoken French proficiency (native or bilingual) required for technical meetings and interviews.
  • Strong technical curiosity, analytical thinking, persistence, rigor, and attention to detail.
  • Experience with DITA-based workflows and single-source, database-driven authoring; familiarity with Author-it is a plus.
  • Experience with documentation automation, scripting, and workflow optimization; scripting knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with source-control and content-management tools such as SVN, GitHub, Bugzilla, JIRA, and Confluence; experience with doc-as-code workflows.
  • Proficiency with Windows and Linux environments and common productivity and text-based editing/search tools.
  • Ability to structure content for both human and machine (LLM) consumption; experience with LLM-enabled documentation workflows is a strong plus.
  • Basic competence in graphic communication and sensitivity to UX/UI consistency.
  • Nice-to-have: Python familiarity, CorelDRAW experience for diagrams, SharePoint experience, advanced regular-expression skills, and domain familiarity with micro-electronics/SoC/NoC technologies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electronics, telecommunications, computer science, engineering, communications, English, or a related field is listed as a standard requirement. A second undergraduate or graduate-level qualification in English-language technical communication is preferred. Alternatives noted in the posting: Associate's degree plus 4+ years' relevant experience, or High School diploma plus 6+ years' relevant experience. Equivalent professional experience is explicitly accepted as a substitute for formal degrees. Non–EU candidates must already have, or be eligible for, French residency and work authorization.
