Job Title
Technical Staff Engineer - Design
Role Summary
Senior SoC design engineer in the Wireless Solutions Group responsible for end-to-end digital SOC design for high-performance, low-power wireless SoCs and attach solutions. The role works across verification, analog, validation, software, physical design and external IP/vendors to deliver products from concept through tape-out.
Requires strong cross-site collaboration, clear communication, and the ability to drive technical deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Experience Level
Senior — minimum 12+ years of experience in digital SoC design with emphasis on low-power techniques.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to SOC design from concept through tape-out, executing the SOC design flow.
- Implement RTL according to micro-architecture and design documentation; perform synthesis and timing analysis.
- Develop and apply low-power design techniques and power estimation methodologies.
- Collaborate with verification teams to ensure design verification per test plans.
- Work with physical design teams to ensure successful integration and timing closure.
- Participate in design reviews to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
- Support validation and bring-up of silicon; debug issues on silicon and prototype platforms.
- Interface with external vendors and IP suppliers to resolve integration issues.
- Communicate technical status and trade-offs clearly to cross-functional teams.
Requirements
Must-have:
- 12+ years of experience in digital SOC design with focus on low-power design.
- Proficient in RTL design using Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Experience with synthesis, timing constraints (SDC), and timing analysis.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow tools and methodologies: LINT, Formal, CDC/RDC, power estimation, MBIST/DFT.
- Strong understanding of SOC architecture (ARM/MIPS), bus protocols (AMBA/AXI), peripheral IPs (USB, Ethernet, I2C, SPI) and Bus Matrix design.
- Scripting experience (TCL, Perl, Python) for design automation and flows.
- Excellent English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills; strong analytical and problem-solving ability; team player and self-motivated.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with verification methodologies (UVM/OVM).
- Experience with validation and debugging on FPGA and silicon IC boards.
- Knowledge of Bluetooth/BLE/Wi-Fi communication standards.
- Familiarity with security features and principles of functional-safety compliant design.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is specified. A Master’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field is listed as preferred.
