Job Title

Technical Program Manager, Manufacturing Test

Role Summary

Drive manufacturing test programs (hardware and software) from new product introduction (NPI) through qualification, production ramp, and sustaining. Act as the interface between engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, and external manufacturing partners to convert test capabilities into qualified, repeatable high-volume production flows.

Position is on the Manufacturing Test Engineering team based in Sunnyvale, CA; occasional travel to manufacturing partners is expected.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires 3+ years of technical program or project management experience in a hardware, electronics, or semiconductor manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate activities to qualify and scale test hardware and software into production. Key responsibilities include:

  • Own manufacturing test programs end-to-end across board, sub-module, and system-level testing from NPI through production and sustaining.
  • Define and drive program plans: milestones, dependencies, critical path, and entry/exit gates; keep plans on track as priorities shift.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including test, hardware, software engineering, manufacturing operations, quality, and external partners.
  • Integrate test readiness, risks, and dependencies into broader product programs with program-level TPMs.
  • Maintain a living risk register; surface issues early and drive them to closure with clear owners and dates.
  • Manage the qualification-to-production handoff to ensure test changes are validated, controlled, and cleanly promoted before they reach the line.
  • Run the operating cadence: reviews, status reporting, and metrics (yield, test time, throughput, capacity) that drive decisions.
  • Plan test capacity and readiness to support production ramp.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience:

  • 3+ years managing technical programs or projects in hardware, electronics, or semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing test and the NPI-to-production lifecycle.
  • Technical fluency across test hardware and software sufficient to earn engineers' trust and make sound trade-offs.
  • Proven ability to drive cross-functional programs to schedule, including with teams that do not report to you.
  • Clear, data-driven communication with both technical and leadership audiences.

Preferred (nice-to-have):

  • Experience with contract manufacturers or multiple manufacturing sites.
  • Exposure to test development, automation, or manufacturing execution systems (MES).
  • Familiarity with quality and change-control practices in high-reliability manufacturing.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Preferred certifications include PMP or Six Sigma; equivalent certifications or relevant technical coursework are acceptable.
