Technical Program Manager
Role Summary
The Technical Program Manager will translate company goals into technical programs and drive execution for fab2's semiconductor fab development. This role coordinates mechanical, electrical, software/embedded, and production teams and reports to the CEO.
Work is focused on delivering hardware tools and components from concept through production release at an early-stage hardware startup with labs in Austin, Lockhart, and San Francisco.
Experience Level
Mid-level — typically 5+ years managing complex hardware projects.
Responsibilities
Own program planning and execution across cross-functional engineering and production teams.
- Manage development of fab tools and components from requirements definition through production release.
- Drive cross-functional execution across mechanical, electrical, embedded/software, and production to meet specifications and schedules.
- Maintain the program critical path, surface technical risks early, and define mitigations and alternate routes to keep projects on track.
- Communicate status, decisions, and risks proactively across teams and to leadership.
- Design and operate lightweight project-management systems for planning, communication, and visibility.
Requirements
Key qualifications and expectations.
- 5+ years managing complex hardware projects and NPI-style programs.
- Proven ability to deliver on tight engineering timelines and make trade-offs to ship new products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; effective at escalating and aligning stakeholders.
- Familiarity with project-management tools and processes; adaptable to different tools.
- Experience coordinating across mechanical, electrical, software/embedded, and production teams.
- Employment contingent on ability to comply with U.S. export-control requirements related to the role.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on hardware engineering experience (mechanical or electrical).
- Familiarity with semiconductor technologies, tools, or processes.
- Track record of transitioning products from R&D/engineering builds to production ramps in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
