Technical Program Manager
Role Summary
Lead planning and execution of semiconductor IP and SoC development programs, coordinating cross-functional engineering teams to deliver silicon on schedule.
Work with Analog, Digital, Layout, Physical Design, Verification, CAD, Validation, and executive leadership to manage schedules, resources, risks, and program deliverables from concept through silicon release.
Experience Level
Senior-level; typically requires 8+ years in the semiconductor industry and 3+ years in technical program or engineering program management.
Responsibilities
Manage technical programs and ensure on-time silicon delivery across multiple engineering domains.
- Lead cross-functional semiconductor development programs from architecture and planning through silicon release.
- Schedule, coordinate, and track resources, milestones, dependencies, and risks to ensure timely execution.
- Coordinate and drive design reviews across Analog, Digital, Verification, Layout, Physical Design, CAD, Validation, and Applications teams.
- Run regular program reviews with engineering leadership and executive management; maintain clear status and decision tracking.
- Identify technical and schedule risks early and define practical mitigation plans with stakeholders.
- Partner with engineering managers to balance priorities, staffing, and program deliverables.
- Maintain productive relationships with distributed teams, customers, and vendors across global sites and time zones.
- Improve execution processes, planning methods, communication practices, and program tracking metrics; support disciplined use of PM tools.
Requirements
Must-have technical program management and semiconductor engineering experience.
- 8+ years of semiconductor industry experience.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on IC design experience (Analog, Mixed-Signal, Digital, Verification, Physical Design, Layout, or Systems Engineering), including participation in at least one complete ASIC, SoC, or IP development cycle through silicon tapeout in a technical engineering role.
- 3+ years of Technical Program Management, Engineering Program Management, or closely related project leadership for semiconductor development programs.
- Strong understanding of the full semiconductor development lifecycle (specification, RTL, synthesis, verification, physical implementation, timing closure, layout integration, tapeout, silicon validation, production release).
- Strong technical problem-solving skills, including risk assessment, root cause analysis, and decision support.
- Excellent communication, organization, stakeholder management, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Jira, Structure, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar systems.
- Experience managing Analog/Mixed-Signal IP, high-speed data converter, or SoC development programs.
Education Requirements
BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
