Technical Lead (Silicon Validation)
eInfochipsJob Title
Technical Lead (Silicon Validation)
Role Summary
Lead pre- and post-silicon functional validation, board bring-up and hardware debug for complex SoCs, MCUs, and ASICs. Coordinate across RTL/design, firmware, architecture and system teams to identify root causes and drive issues to closure.
Own validation planning, test execution, failure analysis and mentor validation engineers to improve debug methodologies and validation metrics.
Experience Level
Senior - 10β15 years of experience in silicon validation, board bring-up, and hardware debug.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include leading silicon bring-up, validation execution, and technical failure analysis.
- Lead pre- and post-silicon functional and system-level validation for SoCs, MCUs, and ASICs.
- Develop and execute validation plans, test cases, and debug strategies.
- Drive board bring-up activities: power, reset, clocks, straps, fuses, hardware initialization, and JTAG debug.
- Perform hardware debug and root-cause analysis for boot failures, system hangs, data corruption, memory access issues, and intermittent faults.
- Validate and debug interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, CAN/CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, UART, I2C, and SPI.
- Use lab instruments (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, bus sniffers, JTAG) for validation and debug.
- Read schematics and perform pin-level signal tracing to isolate hardware issues.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve complex silicon and system-level issues and drive closure.
- Lead technical debug activities and mentor junior validation engineers; review validation methodologies and metrics.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and demonstrable hands-on experience.
- 10β15 years hands-on experience in silicon bring-up, board-level debugging, protocol validation, and lab-based validation on real silicon platforms.
- Strong experience with SoC, MCU, or ASIC functional validation and hardware failure analysis.
- Expertise debugging power, reset, clocking, straps, configuration issues; memory (SRAM/Flash) and register-level problems.
- Experience debugging interfaces: PCIe, Ethernet, CAN/CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, UART, I2C, SPI.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, bus sniffers, and JTAG.
- Ability to read schematics and perform pin-level signal tracing.
- Strong root-cause analysis, problem-solving skills, and experience leading technical debug activities.
Education Requirements
B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
