Technical Intern (R&D)
Role Summary
R&D internship within the LS-SWIFT division of KLA’s Global Products Group. The intern will support laser optical design, set up and operate test stations in a cleanroom environment, develop software for automated testing, and perform data collection and analysis to support engineering and production teams.
Experience Level
Entry-level. Requires less than 1 year of related experience; intended for students available for a 5–6 month internship starting July/August 2026.
Responsibilities
Primary duties for this internship include:
- Support laser optical design activities and set up test stations in a cleanroom.
- Develop software for automated testing and processing.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental and test data.
- Support engineering and production teams; document results and write technical reports.
Requirements
Essential skills and qualifications:
- Available July/August 2026 for a 5–6 month internship (semester placement preferred).
- Strong hands-on aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in optics, photonics, physics and related technologies; willingness to learn new tools and processes.
- Proficiency in data interpretation and matrix mathematics; familiarity with laboratory measurement practices.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; flexibility to perform varied tasks.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with programming and analysis tools such as LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python, or machine learning tools.
- Prior experience with optical systems, cleanroom procedures, or test-station setup.
Education Requirements
Pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university, preferably in optics, photonics, physics, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or another related technical field.
