Job Title

Technical Communication Engineer II

Role Summary

Produce clear, consumable product documentation and learning collateral for Cadence electronic design automation (EDA) tools. Work with engineering, product, support, and product management teams to translate technical concepts into user-facing help, tutorials, videos, and feature collateral aligned to product releases.

This role is execution-focused and requires hands-on familiarity with EDA software, structured authoring practices, and multimedia development tools.

Experience Level

Mid-level (3–4 years of relevant experience in technical communication or instructional design).

Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities are to research technical features, author structured content, and produce supporting media that help customers use Cadence products.

  • Research EDA concepts and product features and translate them into user documentation and tutorials.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product engineering, customer support, and product management to gather information and validate content.
  • Create topic-based (structured) content following content taxonomy and reuse strategies.
  • Maintain documentation aligned to release schedules and product lifecycles.
  • Develop multimedia collateral: screen captures, videos, and feature blogs.
  • Use technical communications tools for authoring, screen capture/recording, and video development.
  • Review product UI and messages to improve clarity and product quality.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform this role.

  • 3–4 years of experience in technical communication, instructional design, or similar roles, preferably in EDA, semiconductor, or other technical domains.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
  • Practical experience with authoring and multimedia tools (examples: Wiki/structured authoring platforms, SnagIT, Captivate, Camtasia, basic graphic tools).
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work independently.
  • Experience working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
  • Attention to detail and familiarity with content reuse and documentation lifecycle.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in any discipline is listed as preferred (preferably computer science or electronics engineering). The posting also implies equivalent practical experience is acceptable.
