Role Summary
Member of the Mixed Signal Development Group responsible for signal and power integrity for device package designs used in data center and optical communication processors. Collaborates with PCB, mixed-signal, product and package teams to ensure electrical specifications are met. Reports to a team leader/manager. Travel 0β25%.
Experience Level
Senior - 12+ years of signal integrity design experience.
Responsibilities
Key duties include:
- Oversee all aspects of signal and power integrity for device package designs.
- Collaborate with PCB, mixed-signal, product development and package designers to define SI requirements.
- Work with package designers to create packaging that meets electrical specifications.
- Develop and evolve SI flows and processes.
- Support internal and external customers with signal integrity simulations of complex channels and power systems.
- Produce signal integrity models for internal and external use.
- Analyze and design PCB and package power systems; review PCB and package designs.
- Model future systems for feasibility and electrical performance.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience:
- 12+ years of signal integrity design experience.
- Experience with field solvers (for example HFSS, CST MWS, SIWave).
- Experience with circuit simulators (for example ADS, Spectre, Hspice).
- Solid understanding of electromagnetic and transmission line theory, I/O design, signal integrity, and differential and single-ended interfaces.
- Experience with PCB layout or electrical package design techniques.
- Familiarity with lab measurement equipment: oscilloscopes, TDR, vector network analyzers.
- Understanding of IBIS and IBIS-AMI.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with MATLAB.
- Scripting experience (Perl, Python, SKILL).
- Experience with the Cadence design environment.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering minimum. No advanced degree or certifications are specified.
