Job Title

TDT CMOS PI

Role Summary

Responsible for driving CMOS device development, integration, characterization, and technology transfer for TDT CMOS at Micron's Taichung Fab 16. The role coordinates across Device, TCAD, Design, Process Integration, Product Engineering, and manufacturing to meet electrical, performance, variability, and reliability targets.

Experience Level

Mid-level - minimum of 5 years semiconductor industry experience; typically a mid-career engineering role.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical leadership of CMOS development, cross-site collaboration, and applying data-driven methods to accelerate development and transfer.

  • Align CMOS device development and transfer objectives across Technology Development sites.
  • Collaborate with Design, TCAD, Modeling, Product Engineering, process integration owners, and fabs.
  • Plan and execute electrical characterization of CMOS devices and circuits; identify improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and mature new technology nodes to achieve program metrics and manufacturing readiness.
  • Ensure devices meet electrical, power, variability, and reliability targets for product success.
  • Lead cross-functional exploration of future device architectures, including non-planar transistors.
  • Drive technology transfer and production ramp activities with manufacturing fabs.
  • Apply AI/ML, advanced analytics, and automation to accelerate development, root-cause analysis, and model generation.
  • Develop and deploy digital methodologies, automated workflows, and engineering dashboards to improve efficiency and data use.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities; preferred items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Minimum 5 years semiconductor industry experience in CMOS device design, process integration, and fabrication technologies.
  • Must-have: Strong understanding of semiconductor device physics, transistor fundamentals, variability, reliability, and characterization techniques.
  • Must-have: Experience with process/device TCAD tools (e.g., Synopsys Sentaurus) and with DOE/statistical analysis methodologies.
  • Must-have: Experience with data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, JMP, CEDA, or equivalent.
  • Must-have: Demonstrated experience driving technology development and transfer programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must-have: Technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and strong written/verbal English communication skills.
  • Nice-to-have: DRAM experience and familiarity with advanced CMOS architectures and scaling challenges.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience applying AI/ML or advanced analytics to semiconductor development and building automated engineering workflows or predictive models.
  • Nice-to-have: Mandarin fluency preferred.

Education Requirements

PhD or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Microelectronics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
