Systems Test Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Execute L10-level system validation for server platforms with a focus on BIOS and BMC functionality. Work within firmware, hardware, and board teams to triage, reproduce, and resolve firmware- and system-level issues prior to product release.

Experience Level

Mid-level (typical 3–7 years of relevant experience).

Responsibilities

Deliver and validate system-level tests and confirm fixes through re-validation.

  • Execute system-level (L10) test cases to validate server BIOS and BMC functionality.
  • Validate BIOS and BMC behavior across boot, power, reset, and management flows.
  • Analyze, reproduce, and document system-level failures discovered during validation.
  • Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and board design teams to triage, debug, and resolve issues.
  • Track defects to resolution and confirm fixes via re-validation.
  • Maintain and improve test procedures, coverage, and basic automation/scripts used in validation.

Requirements

Must-have skills and acceptable additional experience.

  • Must-have: Hands-on experience validating server BIOS and BMC at the system (L10) level.
  • Must-have: Ability to debug system-level issues arising from BIOS, BMC, firmware, or hardware interactions.
  • Must-have: Experience with platform-level debug tools and system bring-up or board-level testing.
  • Must-have: Scripting experience for test or debug support (Python, shell, etc.).
  • Nice-to-have: Post-silicon system validation or prior L10 testing on server platforms.
  • Nice-to-have: General understanding of server platform architecture (CPU, memory, chipset).
  • Nice-to-have: Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
