Systems Software Manager, Display Driver

Role Summary

Manage a Windows display driver engineering team responsible for delivering and supporting GPU display features across monitors, laptops, TVs, and specialty displays. The role focuses on kernel-mode driver quality, interoperability with OS and display vendors, and coordinating chip bring-up and partner requirements.

Experience Level

Senior-level manager. Typical guidance: 6+ years developing system software and 2+ years managing software developers.

Responsibilities

Lead the team to deliver high-quality display driver features and support across products and partners.

  • Lead a team of 5–10 systems software engineers to drive feature development and support for GPU device drivers.
  • Balance priorities among end-user, partner, OS, and chip bring-up requirements and create realistic engineering plans.
  • Own plan development and execution; be accountable for delivery.
  • Contribute to design, development, and implementation of robust kernel-mode device drivers.
  • Coach and mentor engineers to improve technical and leadership skills and support career growth.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, QA, marketing, and release teams to solve problems and release quality products.

Requirements

Must-have qualifications:

  • 6+ years developing system software, including kernel/driver experience.
  • 2+ years managing software developers with responsibility for project delivery.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proven record of leading software projects with interrelated dependencies in dynamic environments.
  • Low-level operating system knowledge and familiarity with development on prototype hardware; experience in memory/resource management in real-time systems.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with display subsystems and standards (HDMI, DisplayPort, USB-C) and display technologies (colorimetry, HDR, VRR, video processing).
  • Windows device driver development and Windows display pipeline experience.
  • Experience with chip verification, bring-up, or NVIDIA GPU programming.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Computer Science (BS/CS), or equivalent practical experience.
