Systems Software Engineer (Rust, Security)

Role Summary

Work on embedded systems enablement for NXP's Connectivity solutions, creating reference designs, customer-specific applications, and demonstration platforms. The role is customer-facing and supports product launches by integrating hardware and software and providing technical guidance to customers and internal teams.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting requests 3+ years of experience in embedded software development.

Responsibilities

Deliver embedded software solutions and customer support across hardware and software layers.

• Design and implement customer-specific embedded applications and reference designs.
• Investigate and debug complex software, firmware and hardware issues to deliver robust, secure solutions.
• Develop demo platforms that showcase integrated hardware and software capabilities.
• Create technical documentation: application notes, white papers, and user guides.
• Present technical material to customers and internal stakeholders; support sales and secure design wins at strategic accounts.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance to customers throughout their development lifecycle.
• Perform security-related tasks as required; work in ways that support security certification processes.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and abilities expected for the role, plus a short list of desirable skills.

• 3+ years embedded software development experience.
• Strong C and/or Rust programming background.
• Understanding of embedded product functionality, system architecture, and customer use cases.
• Strong background in embedded security concepts and secure system design.
• Proven ability to debug and resolve complex issues across software, firmware and hardware.
• Hands-on experience with RTOS and/or Linux-based embedded systems.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and technical presentation skills; English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Nice to have: deeper experience specifically using Rust for embedded security and hardware/software architecture experience.
