Systems Software Engineer, PCIe Device Driver
FuriosaAIJob Title
Systems Software Engineer, PCIe Device Driver
Role Summary
Develop and maintain Linux PCIe device drivers, kernel modules, and user-space libraries to enable high-performance data paths for FuriosaAI's inference accelerator platform. Work on end-to-end PCIe I/O pipelines in close collaboration with hardware and firmware teams.
The team focuses on low-latency, high-throughput I/O, efficient memory management, and robust kernel-level integration for AI accelerator systems.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Specific years of experience are not specified.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include development, optimization, and integration of PCIe I/O subsystems at the kernel and user levels.
- Develop and maintain Linux PCIe device drivers and kernel modules.
- Optimize PCIe subsystem components: DMA, IOMMU, interrupts, and BAR mapping.
- Design and implement user-space libraries and APIs for high-performance data paths.
- Collaborate with hardware and firmware teams to build and validate end-to-end PCIe I/O pipelines.
- Design efficient memory management and zero-copy data transfer mechanisms.
- Use kernel debugging and profiling tools to diagnose and resolve performance and stability issues.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills are listed first; preferred skills are noted separately.
- Must-have: Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals and memory management (including DMA and IOMMU).
- Must-have: Experience developing kernel modules in C.
- Must-have: Knowledge of PCIe protocol and PCIe subsystem architecture.
- Must-have: Experience with kernel debugging and profiling tools (gdb, ftrace, perf, etc.).
- Nice-to-have: Experience with device drivers for HPC, AI accelerators, or high-speed networking.
- Nice-to-have: Background with RDMA, DPDK, SPDK or other high-performance I/O frameworks.
- Nice-to-have: Familiarity with NUMA, huge pages, and pinned memory.
- Nice-to-have: Upstream contributions or open-source maintainer experience.
Education Requirements
