Systems SoC Test Engineer
QualcommJob Title
Systems SoC Test Engineer
Role Summary
Develop, deploy, and automate cross-platform system validation and test solutions for Snapdragon SoCs. Ensure stability, performance, and reliability across CPU, GPU, AI accelerators, memory, storage, connectivity, and peripheral subsystems from early silicon bring-up through production readiness.
Work on a system test engineering team to define validation strategies, expand test coverage, build scalable automation, and perform root-cause analysis across Android, Linux, Windows, QNX, and Qualcomm Hexagon environments. This position is not eligible for Qualcomm immigration sponsorship.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The posting does not specify years of experience; candidates range from experienced engineers to exceptional new graduates with relevant internships or projects.
Responsibilities
Validate and automate end-to-end system tests, monitor quality metrics, and debug system-level issues across platforms and OSes.
- Design, develop, and execute validation for SoC subsystems: DDR, CPU, PCIe, Storage, NoCs, Power, Clocking, GPU, Video, Audio, and AI/DSP.
- Support early silicon bring-up and platform enablement on target hardware.
- Integrate and validate AI model workloads using relevant SDKs and DSP toolchains.
- Define and expand test coverage; identify validation gaps and add scenarios.
- Develop scalable cross-platform automation frameworks and device-farm tooling.
- Collect comprehensive logs and diagnostics across Android, Linux, Windows, and QNX.
- Perform root-cause analysis and collaborate with hardware, firmware, driver, and software teams to resolve issues.
- Monitor regression trends, pass rates, and test metrics to drive quality improvements.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and practical abilities required to perform the role; preferred items listed separately.
- Must-have: Strong programming and debugging skills in C/C++ and system-level software development.
- Must-have: Experience with embedded systems validation, system bring-up, and root-cause analysis of software/firmware/hardware issues.
- Must-have: Experience working in Linux environments, including kernel or system-level debugging; familiarity with Android, Windows, or QNX is expected.
- Must-have: Ability to analyze logs, traces, crash dumps, and telemetry to diagnose stability, performance, power, thermal, and memory issues.
- Must-have: Experience building or using automation frameworks and scripting (Python, Shell/Bash, PowerShell) for test orchestration.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with Qualcomm Hexagon DSP, AI Direct SDK, AI/ML workloads, Vulkan/OpenCL, or embedded ARM-based platforms.
- Nice-to-have: Experience designing large-scale device farms, recovery/monitoring tooling, test analytics, and performance profiling.
- Nice-to-have: Public GitHub examples of embedded software, DSP, systems programming, or automation projects.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field is listed as a minimum requirement. Preferred qualifications note a BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM fields. The posting also encourages exceptional new graduates with relevant internship or project experience.
