Systems Quality Engineer II (Co-op)
Role Summary
This co-op position supports the ASIC development lifecycle for high-performance communications processors. The role works with cross-functional engineering teams on architecture, design, verification, and bring-up tasks to help deliver networking ASICs.
Experience Level
Entry-level (Co-op). Intended for students currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs; experience expectation varies by program (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include contributing to design and verification activities across processor, memory, and networking subsystems.
- Participate in design, development, and verification of high-performance communications processors and ASICs.
- Contribute to system and network processor architecture and Ethernet processing implementations.
- Perform digital signal processing, modeling, and high-speed logic design and verification tasks.
- Support custom processor and efficient memory design efforts and develop/maintain custom libraries.
- Assist with physical design & DFT, signal integrity analysis, and packaging technology activities.
Requirements
Technical skills and professional behaviors required for effective contribution during the co-op.
Must-have:
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow and RTL design using VHDL or Verilog.
- Exposure to EDA tools used in ASIC design and verification.
- Solid engineering fundamentals and technical problem-solving ability.
- Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work with extended teams.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work toward long-term goals.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with digital signal processing, high-speed logic verification, or custom processor development.
- Experience with physical design, DFT, signal integrity, or advanced packaging technologies.
Education Requirements
Candidates must be currently enrolled and expected to remain enrolled in a degree program. Acceptable programs: undergraduate (Associate's or Bachelor's) - typically with ~2 years of work experience - or Master's degree program (0 years of work experience required). Fields: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical fields.
