Systems Design Engineer - nBIF/SysHub IP Systems Engineering

Role Summary

Lead systems engineer responsible for pre-silicon execution, validation, silicon bring-up and post-silicon debug for semi-custom SoC IPs focused on IO, system hub, interconnect and shared memory functions. The role partners with design, software, tools and project teams to define and deliver validation strategies and debug methodologies.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Candidate should have approximately 7–8 years of relevant pre- and post-silicon validation experience.

Responsibilities

Accountable for systems-level validation, bring-up and cross-team technical leadership across the product lifecycle.

  • Drive systems design validation from pre-silicon/emulation through post-silicon bring-up and software integration.
  • Lead technical presentations and cross-functional technical discussions; identify root causes and drive resolution.
  • Define and execute validation strategies, unit test plans, and test plan requirements.
  • Isolate and debug issues during pre-silicon, bring-up, validation, and production phases.
  • Collaborate with design, diagnostics, drivers, tools and project leadership to align testing and debug methodologies.
  • Develop and improve validation tooling, scripts, and methodologies to enhance coverage and efficiency.
  • Mentor and lead engineering team members; promote knowledge sharing and process improvements.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

  • In-depth knowledge of SoC architecture and system-level concepts.
  • Experience with IP/system-level bring-up and SOC debug methodologies.
  • Experience with FPGA and hardware emulation platforms for pre-silicon debug.
  • Understanding of BIOS, OS and driver interactions and common failure points.
  • Familiarity with boot flows/sequences, lab equipment, computer hardware and networks.
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives and providing technical leadership/mentoring.
  • Knowledge of standard power management features and related use cases.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
  • Strong programming/scripting skills (example: Python, C/C++, Ruby).
  • Proven ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly and work independently across geographies.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.
