Job Title
Systems Design Engineer
Role Summary
Design and validate system- and SoC-level architectures, develop RTL and test cases, and support ASIC implementation and verification for AMD semiconductor products. Work as part of a hardware engineering team to evaluate designs through synthesis, place-and-route, timing and power analysis, and bring designs to production readiness.
Experience Level
Entry-level β requires approximately 1 year of relevant engineering experience or equivalent graduate-level/internship experience.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Architect system or SoC-level designs and define interfaces.
- Develop RTL using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL and perform RTL coding.
- Create and execute verification test cases and support simulation-based validation.
- Work across the ASIC design flow: synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis, place-and-route considerations.
- Analyze timing and power, identify design weaknesses, and implement fixes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in design reviews.
- Document design decisions, processes, and system specifications.
- Operate under supervision and follow established engineering procedures and best practices.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Approximately one (1) year of experience in the role offered or a closely related engineering role.
- Experience designing system or SoC architecture.
- Test case development and verification experience.
- Proficiency with Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL and RTL design practices.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flows and tools: synthesis, simulation, equivalence checking, static timing analysis.
- Experience with EDA or CAD tools used in ASIC design.
- Software skills in C, C++, or Python.
- Relevant experience may be gained through graduate coursework, research, assistantship, or internship.
Nice-to-have: Not specified.
Education Requirements
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
