Job Title
Systems and Hardware Enabling Engineer
Role Summary
Join Intel's Networking Solutions Group (NSG) Customer Experience Support organization to enable programmable Infrastructure Processing Unit (IPU) solutions with major cloud customers. The role focuses on board/platform bring-up, validation, hardware debug, and delivering customer-facing technical enablement for networking products.
Work closely with customers and internal engineering teams to accelerate product readiness, improve performance and reliability, and produce technical collateral that streamlines customer adoption.
Experience Level
Mid-level. The role typically requires multiple years of industry experience (the posting indicates ~5+ years overall experience and specific 2β3+ year experience bands for key skills).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include hands-on hardware enablement, customer support, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver IPU-based solutions.
- Provide technical support to customers integrating Intel Ethernet/IPU products, accelerating design cycles and time-to-market.
- Perform board/platform bring-up, validation, debugging, and issue resolution across development, test, and production phases for Intel and customer designs.
- Develop and improve lab/debug tools and automation to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Create technical collateral: application notes, user guides, white papers, and adoption materials.
- Analyze customer designs and feedback to inform product engineering, planning, and PAE teams.
- Coordinate with engineering, marketing, and program management to integrate customer requirements, support ramps, and deliver training.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for initial consideration.
Must-have
- 3+ years of hardware design, board-level debugging, bring-up, and testing on Intel or ARM architectures.
- 2+ years working with modern computer networking architectures, protocols, topologies, and networking products.
- Hands-on lab experience with tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Experience reading schematics and working with PCB/layout files.
- Programming or scripting experience (e.g., Python) for tooling and automation.
- Customer-facing technical support experience, including troubleshooting and delivering technical guidance.
Nice-to-have
- Experience enabling new products directly with customers and supporting product ramps.
- System-level server or network debugging across hardware, firmware, and software.
- Knowledge of Ethernet products and data center/enterprise networking ecosystems.
- Familiarity with operating systems, firmware/BIOS, device drivers, system administration, and embedded software tools.
- Understanding board-level design tradeoffs for high-performance NIC integration (thermal, power, signal integrity, BMC, BIOS integration).
- Experience with scaled datacenter workloads and network administration is a plus.
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple time zones.
Education Requirements
Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field. The posting indicates this role is typically paired with ~5+ years of industry experience. Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field.
