System Validation Engineer (to Staff Engineer)
Role Summary
CoreIP team role to develop, deploy, and support emulation and FPGA environments for RISC-V processor and SoC validation. The position defines emulation test strategy, implements test frameworks and plans, and debugs complex issues across hardware, emulation, software, and silicon.
Experience Level
Senior β expects above 3 years of direct system development, validation and FPGA debugging experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include bringing up and validating silicon on FPGA/emulation platforms and collaborating across teams to ensure readiness for silicon and software bring-up.
- Bring up silicon designs on FPGA platforms and root-cause design, test, and emulator environment failures.
- Define and implement emulation test strategies, test frameworks, and test plans aligned with product goals.
- Deploy and configure hardware and software on emulation platforms to establish silicon readiness.
- Debug complex interactions among emulation hardware, firmware/software, and silicon design.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (design, verification, software, validation) to close issues and verify coverage.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and behaviours for the role.
- Above 3 years of direct system development, validation and debugging experience on FPGA platforms.
- Ability to debug processor and SoC designs on FPGA/emulation platforms.
- Experience with Linux-based open-source software development.
- Strong understanding of verification flow methodology: test-plan generation, test generation, failure analysis, coverage analysis, and closure.
- Conscientious and thorough approach to design verification and system validation.
- Good interpersonal and cross-discipline collaboration skills.
- Commitment to product quality and detail-oriented problem solving.

Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Scala, Chisel, or other non-standard verification languages/methodologies.
