System Software Engineer - Performance

Role Summary

Join the Tegra SoC system software organization to develop, analyze, and optimize system software for next-generation ARM-based SoCs targeting datacenter and CPU+GPU superchip products. The role spans pre-silicon and post-silicon phases and focuses on maximizing performance and efficiency at scale.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Early career. Guidance: 2+ years of relevant computer architecture or software development experience.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include system-level performance engineering, tooling, and cross-team communication.

  • Design, develop, test, and optimize system software for next-generation SoCs across pre-silicon and post-silicon stages.
  • Analyze and identify performance bottlenecks across hardware and software stacks.
  • Develop and run benchmarks and tools to measure and profile system and workload performance.
  • Produce analysis reports and present findings to internal stakeholders and engineering teams.
  • Perform competitive performance comparisons against other vendor processors and provide actionable insights.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience below. Nice-to-have items are listed separately.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience in computer architecture or system software development.
  • Hands-on experience working in environments that combine complex software and hardware designs.
  • Strong understanding of multicore hardware, operating system design, concurrency, virtual memory, caching, interrupts, device drivers, and real-time programming.
  • Experience in performance analysis, data analysis, and performance optimization.
  • Nice-to-have: ARM architecture expertise, experience analyzing CPU server workloads, familiarity with CUDA/GPU programming, and experience with HPC or large-scale computing environments.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
