Job Title
System Software Engineer, GPU Development Tools
Role Summary
Develop infrastructure and frameworks that generate, analyze, and debug GPU workloads used for functional and performance verification. The role supports chip architects, driver developers, and verification teams across the GPU development lifecycle.
Work includes building stimulus frameworks, analysis tools (debuggers, disassemblers), and performance modeling infrastructure to accelerate GPU development.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically requires around 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include:
- Participate in all stages of GPU development from architecture to verification.
- Design and architect features in compute and graphics stimulus frameworks (analogous to OpenGL/CUDA).
- Collaborate with GPU architects to implement infrastructure for functional and performance verification.
- Design and implement GPU stimulus analysis tools such as debuggers and disassemblers.
- Develop tooling to measure and model application and GPU performance.
- Work closely with hardware and software teams to integrate tools into engineering workflows.
- Improve modelers' and designers' daily workflows to speed GPU development.
Requirements
Core qualifications and preferred skills.
-
Must-have: 3+ years working on C++ projects with strong C++ programming ability and familiarity with modern C++ (C++11/14).
-
Must-have: Good understanding of system software and operating systems.
-
Must-have: Knowledge of object-oriented design patterns and strong skills in designing complex, massively parallel algorithms.
-
Must-have: Strong communication and collaboration skills.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with chip or system simulation.
-
Nice-to-have: Experience with graphics/CUDA and graphics APIs (OpenGL, Vulkan, Direct3D, CUDA).
-
Nice-to-have: Familiarity with Boost or other C++ libraries and strong scripting skills.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
