Job Title

System Software Engineer – GPU and SOC (2027 RDSS Intern)

Role Summary

Join the GPU Software team to design, implement, and verify system software and kernel drivers for next-generation GPUs and SoC platforms. Work closely with hardware architects, system engineers, and firmware teams to bring early designs through simulation, firmware, and into customer products.

Experience Level

Entry-level / Intern — targeted at new graduates (BS, MS, PhD) or equivalent practical experience; suitable for early-career engineers (approximately 0–3 years).

Responsibilities

Contribute to system-level software across GPU and SoC platforms from early development through product delivery.

  • Design, implement, and verify kernel drivers and embedded system software for GPU and SoC platforms.
  • Perform early modeling, simulation, and firmware development for new GPU chips and SoCs.
  • Develop and optimize performance and power-management features at the platform level.
  • Debug complex system-level issues across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional global teams including HW architects, firmware, and system software engineers.
  • Support the software lifecycle from prototype through integration into customer products.

Requirements

Minimum technical skills and experience required for successful contribution.

  • Proficient in C and C++; strong low-level programming skills.
  • Experience with low-level drivers and system platforms (x86, ARM, or SoC).
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessor and microcontroller fundamentals.
  • Kernel experience on Linux, Android, ChromeOS, or Windows.
  • Experience with complex system-level debugging and root-cause analysis.

Nice-to-have:

  • Knowledge of SOC, AI and GPU system architecture and device-driver internals (memory management, firmware, power management).
  • Experience with large system-level build flows, open-source projects, or embedded RTOS.
  • Experience optimizing performance and power on x86, ARM, or SOC platforms.

Education Requirements

New BS, MS or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
