System Software Engineer – GPU and SOC (2027 RDSS Intern)

Role Summary

Join the GPU Software team to design, implement, and verify system software components for next-generation GPUs and SoC platforms. Work spans early modeling and simulation, firmware, kernel drivers, power and performance management, and platform bring-up.

Experience Level

Entry-level intern / new graduate role. Intended for recent or soon-to-be graduates (BS/MS/PhD) or candidates with equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

Contribute to system-level software across the GPU and SoC stack; collaborate with hardware and software engineers throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Design, develop, and verify kernel drivers and embedded system software for GPU and SoC platforms.
  • Perform early modeling, simulation, and platform bring-up activities.
  • Develop and validate firmware, power management, and performance features.
  • Debug complex system-level issues across hardware and software boundaries.
  • Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to integrate software with hardware design and customer products.

Requirements

Core technical skills and platform experience required. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Strong C and C++ programming skills; experience with low-level driver development.
  • Experience with x86, ARM, or SoC system platforms.
  • Familiarity with computer system architecture, microprocessor, and microcontroller fundamentals.
  • Kernel experience on Linux, Android, Chrome OS, or Windows.
  • Proven ability to perform complex system-level debugging.
  • Effective communicator and collaborator in multi-team, international development environments.

Nice-to-have:

  • Background in complex SoC, AI/GPU system architecture.
  • Deep understanding of memory management, device drivers, firmware, power management, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with large system-level build flows or open-source project contribution.
  • Embedded systems, RTOS, or platform performance tuning experience.

Education Requirements

Currently pursuing or recently completed a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience.
