System Software Engineer 3 Embedded Power Management (RDSS Intern)

Role Summary

Internship role on the Embedded Power Management team working on Tegra SoC and other NVIDIA embedded platforms. The role focuses on implementing and validating power and thermal management features in Linux kernel and user-space components.

The intern will collaborate with power architects, hardware and software engineers to support power estimation, optimization, and related system-level validation.

Experience Level

Entry-level internship (RDSS Intern). This is a 2027 RDSS program position; confirm local eligibility with your district office before applying.

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities for this internship include:

  • Develop and implement power and thermal management features in the Linux kernel and user-space software.
  • Work with Tegra SoC and other embedded NVIDIA platforms to integrate power-management functionality.
  • Collaborate with power architects, hardware teams, and software engineers on power estimation and performance/power optimization.
  • Perform system-level debugging and validation of power management behavior on embedded platforms.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • Software development experience with a significant focus on Linux.
  • Strong C programming and debugging skills for both Linux kernel and user-space code.
  • Experience with embedded systems and ARM processor platforms.
  • System-level debugging skills and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience contributing to or working with the Linux/open-source software community.
  • Familiarity with Linux power-management features (scheduler, DVFS, runtime PM, suspend-to-RAM) and factors affecting platform power efficiency.

Education Requirements

MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related software/hardware engineering field is listed as the expected qualification for this role. Also note the position is part of NVIDIA's 2027 RDSS program and candidates should confirm local eligibility.
