System Software Engineer

Role Summary

Design and implement RDMA protocol features and related software/firmware for Broadcom Ethernet NIC products targeting AI/ML and high-performance computing workloads. Collaborate with architecture, silicon, QA, and support teams to deliver scalable, high-performance NIC software, drivers, and firmware.

Compensation: annual base salary range USD 143,800 to USD 230,000.

Senior — 12+ years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, validating, and supporting RDMA and NIC software and firmware.

• Design and develop RDMA protocol features, with emphasis on QoS and congestion control.
• Collaborate with architecture and silicon teams to architect scalable, high-performance solutions.
• Implement, document, and validate software, device drivers, and firmware components.
• Define test cases, review test plans, and support QA during release cycles.
• Investigate and resolve customer field issues in coordination with support teams.

Requirements

Must-have:

• Strong practical experience with RDMA protocols and RDMA-based systems.
• Experience in QoS, packet classification, and congestion control for NICs.
• Linux systems programming, including network drivers and kernel networking.
• Experience with virtual switching and data center networking.
• Firmware development and integration with software stacks.
• Ability to write test scripts and validate NIC behavior.
• Performance analysis and tuning for HPC workloads.
• Proficient programming skills in C, C++, and Python; experience producing optimized code for x86 and ARM64 toolchains.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice-to-have:

• Deep knowledge of Linux kernel internals (added advantage).

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Computer Science, Electronics & Communications, or a related technical field — or equivalent practical experience. The posting specifies a minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in lieu of or in addition to the degree requirement.
