Job Title

System Software Engineer

Role Summary

Design, develop, and validate system-level software across firmware, drivers, operating systems, middleware, frameworks, and applications to enable Intel hardware features. Work with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver reliable, high-performance software for platforms spanning AI, cloud, graphics, security, and virtualization domains.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, implementation, validation, and troubleshooting of system software across the stack.

  • Design, develop, integrate, validate, and debug software across firmware, drivers, OS, middleware, and applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to translate requirements into working solutions.
  • Optimize software for performance, reliability, and scalability on Intel platforms and hardware features.
  • Create validation plans, test methodologies, and automation scripts; run and analyze validation results.
  • Debug complex failures, implement corrective actions, and document root causes and fixes.
  • Develop reference software platforms and solutions to showcase product capabilities.
  • Support software integration and validation from presilicon development through postsilicon deployment.
  • Maintain documentation, coding standards, and security best practices.

  • Professional experience in system software development (firmware, drivers, OS, middleware) and debugging at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with validation, test automation, and creating comprehensive test plans.
  • Proficiency in low-level programming and debugging tools; strong software engineering practices and familiarity with secure coding.
  • Ability to analyze complex failures, profile performance, and implement stability improvements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for cross-team and partner engagements.
  • Work onsite at Intel at least 4 days per week as required by company policy.
  • Nice-to-have: experience with presilicon/postsilicon flows, virtualization, cloud or AI workloads, scripting for automation (Python), and developing reference platforms.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or another STEM-related field.
