Job Title

System Software/Embedded Engineer (Diagnostics)

Role Summary

Join the Platform Software team to design and implement system-level services, diagnostic tools, and validation tests for Tensordyne's AI inference platform. The role focuses on firmware and board bring-up, bootloader/BSP development, device drivers, and system-level debugging.

Work closely with silicon, hardware, and manufacturing teams to integrate diagnostics into production test flows and to optimize platform performance and power for data center deployments.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The role expects 5+ years of experience in low-level systems, embedded software, firmware, and tooling for high-performance computing or data-center deployed systems.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include platform bring-up, diagnostics, and tooling for AI inference systems.

  • Lead requirements, design, and development of system services, diagnostics, and analysis tooling.
  • Support cross-functional teams in firmware/board bring-up and platform software validation.
  • Develop and maintain bootloaders, BSP components, device drivers, and Linux kernel modules.
  • Integrate platform tools into production test scripts and manufacturing diagnostics packages.
  • Debug hardware/software interactions using JTAG, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related tools.
  • Optimize system-level performance and power; work with interfaces such as PCIe, I2C, SPI, and JTAG.
  • Collaborate directly with silicon and hardware teams on hardware/software co-design.
  • Travel to contract manufacturer sites as needed to support test station bring-up and troubleshoot production issues.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes for successful performance in this role.

  • Must have: 5+ years developing low-level systems, embedded software/firmware, and tooling for high-performance or data-center systems, including diagnostics and manufacturing support.
  • Must have: Hands-on experience bringing up and debugging complex Linux-based systems at kernel and driver level, embedded Linux or RTOS environments.
  • Must have: Expert programming in C and C++; strong proficiency in Python and shell scripting (Bash); experience with Tcl/Expect is beneficial.
  • Must have: Comfortable reading schematics/datasheets and interfacing directly with hardware; experience using JTAG, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Must have: Strong technical communication skills and ability to work across hardware, software, and manufacturing teams in a fast-paced startup.
  • Nice to have: Familiarity with AI inference frameworks and data center deployment/management environments.
  • Nice to have: SoC/silicon bring-up experience and Rust programming experience.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
