Role Summary

Join AMD's Pensando team to develop and validate system-level models for advanced ASIC and SoC platforms used in AI, cloud, networking, and data-center solutions. You will work across architecture, design, verification, and software teams to enable architecture exploration, accelerate software development, and support ASIC verification.

Location: Santa Clara, CA (hybrid). This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Years of experience not specified.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on creating, integrating, and using system models to evaluate functionality and performance and to support cross-functional development and validation.

  • Develop and integrate high-level, transaction-level, and cycle-accurate models for complex ASIC and SoC platforms.
  • Produce models to support architecture exploration, ASIC verification, and accelerate software development.
  • Analyze system behavior and performance to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Investigate and debug architectural, functional, and performance issues across hardware and software stacks.
  • Contribute to system-level modeling initiatives using SystemC and related simulation frameworks.
  • Create reusable validation environments in collaboration with architecture, design, verification, and software teams.
  • Develop automation and scripting to improve modeling, simulation, and validation workflows.
  • Provide modeling and performance analysis to inform architecture decisions.

Requirements

Expect strong software engineering and system-modeling skills. Must-have items are listed first, followed by desirable skills.

  • Must-have:
    • Strong programming skills in modern C++.
    • Proven experience developing system-level models (transaction-level, functional, or cycle-accurate) for ASIC/SoC platforms.
    • Experience with SystemC modeling and simulation environments.
    • Strong debugging and analytical skills across hardware and software stacks.
    • Experience collaborating with architecture, design, verification, and software engineering teams.
  • Nice-to-have:
    • Experience with automation and scripting (Python or similar) for modeling and validation workflows.
    • Exposure to ARM Fast Models, ISA modeling, virtual platforms, OMNeT, or similar frameworks.
    • Background in networking, data-center infrastructure, CPU architecture, or high-performance computing.
    • Experience developing models specifically for ASIC verification, architecture exploration, or software acceleration.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline preferred.
