System Level Test (SLT) Automation Engineer, Senior
QualcommJob Title
System Level Test (SLT) Automation Engineer, Senior
Role Summary
The SLT Automation team develops and maintains production-grade system-level test software used from engineering validation through high-volume manufacturing. This role designs test executives, shared frameworks, integration interfaces, and automation tools to enable scalable multi-site testing and reliable handler integration.
The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing partners to deploy automated test solutions and provide escalation support for production issues.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires substantial software development experience in test automation, manufacturing test, or embedded systems (see Education Requirements for degree/minimum experience guidance).
Responsibilities
Primary duties include developing SLT automation software and integrating test equipment to support manufacturing and engineering test flows.
- Develop and maintain SLT automation software: test executive components, shared frameworks, and reusable test libraries.
- Integrate handlers, testers, and bench stations; define communication interfaces and APIs with equipment vendors.
- Build integration interfaces to allow manufacturing partners to connect their automation infrastructure with minimal bring-up effort.
- Enable new test content (RF, stress, functional) on multi-site handler flows and assess compatibility and retrofit options.
- Provide escalation and root-cause analysis for automation issues across software, hardware, and handler interfaces; deliver fixes and release notes.
- Develop tools for log collection, data processing, and reporting to improve engineering efficiency.
- Maintain technical documentation, debug guidelines, and release notes for partners and test engineers.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- Significant software development experience in test automation, manufacturing test, or embedded systems (senior-level experience expected).
- Strong programming skills in C#/.NET and practical experience with Python.
- Solid software design fundamentals: object-oriented design, event-driven and multi-threaded programming, inter-process communication, and API/interface design.
- Experience integrating automated test systems and handlers; familiarity troubleshooting interactions between software, hardware, and handlers.
- Experience with source control and release/version management (e.g., Git, Perforce) and automated build/release processes.
- Strong debugging and log-analysis skills and clear technical communication in English for global collaboration.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with test sequencers/test executives and writing scalable multi-site test content for SoCs.
- Familiarity with common ATE/handler vendors (Chroma, Teradyne, Advantest), Android/Linux/Windows board bring-up, and flashing tools.
- Experience with Java and advanced manufacturing integration patterns.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field with 2+ years of hardware or related engineering experience; OR Master's in those fields with 1+ year of related experience; OR PhD in a related field. (These degree/experience combinations are the stated minimum qualifications.)
