Senior Engineer - IC Design (DFT)
Silicon LabsJob Title
Senior Engineer - IC Design (DFT)
Role Summary
Contribute to DFT architecture and implementation for complex SoCs including multi-core processors, memory subsystems, and high-speed interfaces. Lead development and integration of scan, ATPG, MBIST, JTAG, and related test solutions and work with cross-functional teams to support silicon bring-up, validation, and production test.
Experience Level
Senior-level; requires approximately 8+ years of experience in DFT/ASIC/SoC design.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include implementation, verification, and operational support of on-chip test infrastructure.
- Design and integrate scan, boundary scan, JTAG, MBIST, and at-speed DFT features at block and SoC level.
- Generate, simulate, and debug ATPG patterns for stuck-at, transition, and other fault models.
- Improve scan coverage and optimize test time.
- Support silicon bring-up, ATE validation, failure analysis, and production debug.
- Collaborate with RTL designers, verification, physical design, and test engineering teams.
- Maintain DFT documentation, test collateral, and automation scripts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and tooling experience.
- Strong understanding of DFT concepts for multi-clock SoC designs (scan, clock-domain handling, test timing).
- Hands-on experience with ATPG and pattern generation tools.
- Experience with commercial DFT tools such as Tessent, DFT Compiler, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with JTAG and boundary-scan methodologies.
- Knowledge of MBIST concepts and at-speed testing.
- Exposure to RTL (Verilog/SystemVerilog) for DFT integration.
- Scripting skills (Python, Perl, Tcl, shell) for automation and tool flow development.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with ATE platforms (Advantest, Teradyne) and production test flows.
- Low-power DFT techniques and advanced test-time optimization experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (specified in the posting).
