System Level Test Engineer - Staff
Role Summary
Member of the System Level Test (SLT) team responsible for early-stage silicon bring-up, post-silicon validation, and system-level testing of Snapdragon SoCs across mobile, compute, automotive, server, and modem platforms.
Work includes hardware testing, software integration, test automation, NPI and production test solutions, and validation of system-level test equipment.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 8+ years of relevant hardware/system test experience (mobile devices or microprocessor industry).
Responsibilities
Core duties include system bring-up, validation, test development, and cross-team collaboration.
- Perform early-stage silicon bring-up and post-silicon validation with hardware and system software.
- Develop and execute test cases to verify device performance across voltage, process, and temperature conditions.
- Create automated test content that stresses SoCs for functionality, performance, stability, and benchmarking.
- Define test board and instrumentation requirements, and deliver NPI and production test solutions.
- Validate and qualify new system-level test equipment for roadmap products.
- Develop production screening methods to detect system-level issues and drive customer quality improvements.
- Work cross-functionally with architecture, hardware, firmware, and customer teams; lead development efforts when required.
- Perform hands-on bench characterization, instrument evaluation, and production solution development.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred skills listed separately.
- 8+ years of experience in system, software, or bench testing, preferably in mobile devices or microprocessor industries.
- Working knowledge of Android architecture, boot process, kernel, BSP, and Android performance analysis.
- Ability to read/analyze hardware schematics and data sheets and translate into SOC test cases.
- Hands-on bench characterization and experience with laboratory instruments and production equipment.
- Experience characterizing processors, graphics, memory, thermal, and power performance of SoCs.
- Proven record as an engineering lead or technical owner for low-cost test solution development.
- Experience defining test requirements and driving customer quality improvement initiatives.
- Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing, wireless product design/test, and working with global teams.
- Experience using measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, and wireless network simulators.
- Hands-on debugging/triaging experience with Android debugging tools and JTAG (e.g. Lauterbach/Trace32).
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with C#, .NET, C/C++, Python and embedded software development.
- Experience with source control systems (Perforce, Git) and FPGA programming.
- Software development exposure on Android/Windows/Linux platforms.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or related technical field). Preferred: Master’s in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science/Engineering.
