System IP RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for RTL design and delivery of system IP. The role focuses on writing, verifying, debugging, and delivering synthesizable RTL that fits within the system IP design flow and meets project requirements.

Works with cross-functional engineering teams, takes ownership of assigned features from design through handoff, and helps resolve technical issues that arise during development.

Experience Level

Mid-level — requires 5+ years of hands-on RTL design experience.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include RTL development, debugging, and collaboration across teams. Work is centred on implementing and delivering system IP blocks using industry-standard flows and tools.

• Design and implement synthesizable RTL for system IP using Verilog and VHDL.
• Participate in the system IP design flow, including design reviews and integration activities.
• Use EDA tools (Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics) to synthesize, simulate, and debug designs.
• Troubleshoot functional issues and root-cause defects in RTL.
• Document designs, test results, and implementation decisions.
• Collaborate with other engineers and stakeholders to meet project milestones and deliverables.
• Take ownership of assigned projects from specification through delivery.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• 5+ years of RTL design experience.
• Strong knowledge of Verilog and VHDL.
• Familiarity with the system IP design flow.
• Working knowledge of EDA tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Mentor Graphics.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
