System IP MicroArchitect
QualcommJob Title
System IP MicroArchitect
Role Summary
Technical hands-on role for IP architecture and micro-architecture development in system infrastructure. Responsible for prototyping, evaluating, and commercializing IPs across SOC infrastructure domains and guiding implementation teams to deliver production-quality silicon.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Preferred 8+ years in IP architecture/micro-architecture; minimum qualifications indicate 4–6+ years depending on degree (see Education Requirements).
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of IP architecture, prototyping, and cross-team collaboration.
- Define and develop IP micro-architecture and architecture-level tradeoffs for system infrastructure IPs.
- Build design prototypes and proof-of-concept experiments to evaluate algorithm efficiency and quantify performance, power, and area benefits.
- Work with performance-modelling and silicon teams to prototype new IP ideas and analyze prior products and competitive solutions.
- Guide Design, DV, and engineering teams to ensure high-quality IP implementation and successful commercialization.
- Collaborate with software teams for post-silicon tuning to optimize performance and power.
- Perform system-level analysis on concurrency, QoS, bandwidth, and latency impacts.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and domain knowledge; preferred items listed separately.
- Hands-on experience in IP architecture and micro-architecture development for SOC infrastructure.
- Experience with Verilog and digital logic design considering timing, area, and power tradeoffs.
- Strong understanding of SOC architecture, including memory technologies, interconnects, and power/clock/reset considerations.
- Familiarity with interconnect protocols such as AHB, AXI, ACE, ACE-Lite, and CHI.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience in performance analysis and collaborating with modelling, design, and system teams.
- Nice-to-have: test-plan development and UVM experience; specific IP domain expertise in DDR, interconnects, memory management, SOC power management, compression, encryption, ECC, PCIe, or CXL.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field plus 6+ years of relevant Systems Engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in those fields plus 5+ years; OR PhD in those fields plus 4+ years.
