System Engineer (RF and SerDes)

Role Summary

Define system-level architecture and specifications for a new class of semiconductor products that integrate high-speed SerDes and RF/mmWave signal chains. Work across system modeling, requirement definition, verification planning, and customer technical interaction.

The role partners with design and verification teams, drives feasibility and trade-off analysis, and delivers system-level test plans to ensure product performance and robustness.

Experience Level

Senior level. The role expects extensive experience in system engineering and semiconductor IC product development (senior-level expertise, demonstrated by the posting: ~15 years).

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include system architecture, analysis, and ensuring requirements are realized in implementation.

• Define system-level architecture and specifications for ICs combining high-speed SerDes and RF/mmWave signal chains.
• Gather and translate product and customer requirements into technical specifications.
• Build system models for feasibility, trade-off, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with design and verification teams to map requirements into implementation and verification plans.
• Develop and execute system-level test plans to validate functionality and performance.
• Serve as technical interface to customers, translating needs into engineering solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement of system engineering processes and contribute to patents or technical publications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and professional capabilities.

• Extensive experience in mmWave (V-band) wireless system design and performance analysis.
• Deep knowledge of 10G SerDes concepts: CTLE, VGA, DFE modeling, CDR, PLLs, jitter budgeting and analysis.
• Experience in analog-mixed-signal product specification and IC development.
• Strong programming and modeling skills: C, C++, MATLAB, Python.
• Proven ability to produce system-level test plans and run system-level verification.
• Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills; capable of interacting with customers and international teams as an individual contributor.
• Comfortable working in cross-functional, geographically distributed teams.

Nice-to-have:

• Prior use of AI productivity tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude) to improve engineering workflows.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related technical field. (The posting explicitly lists Master's or Ph.D.)
